After you have contacted us we will contact the other person to invite them to also attend a Miam meeting .
You will both be invited to attend a meeting separately with a qualified Miam mediator who will assess your situation to see if Mediation would be an appropriate route for you and to explain the possible ways to resolve the issues between you both including Mediation, Alternative dispute resolution, collaborative law, negotiation, litigation , arbitration. Giving you the opportunity to explore the options and decide which form may suit your specific situation.
The meeting takes around 45 minutes
If you both agree to use Mediation and your case is suitable for mediation a mediation pack will be sent out to you for completion and the 1st session arranged.
If you decide not to use Mediation or the case is not appropriate for Mediation a “FM1” (Family Mediation 1) will be signed by a certified mediator and provided to show to the court that you have been to a MIAM so you can start court proceedings.
